What Medical Problems Are We Solving?

Xyken's technologies mainly target the orthotics and prosthetics, hearing aids, and and remote chronic wound management through 3D imaging technologies. Check out our current R&D activities in foot orthotics, custom-fit OTC hearing aids, and remote chronic wound management etc.

We also target the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) tract diseases, breast cancer, and chronic diseases.

GI tract Diseases: The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC) estimates that between 60 and 70 million people in the US are affected by digestive diseases each year. Annually, diseases of the GI tract account for more than 30 million office visits and more than 10 million GI endoscopic procedures in the United States alone for the examinations of digestive tract including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, and rectum. The associated national cost is over $60 billion per year.

Chronic Diseases: Chronic disease is a long-lasting condition that can be controlled but not cured. Chronic illness affects the population worldwide. According to the Centers for Disease Control, chronic disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. It accounts for 70% of all deaths in the U.S., which is 1.7 million each year. Data from the World Health Organization show that chronic disease is also the major cause of premature death around the world even in places where infectious disease are rampant. Although chronic diseases are among the most common and costly health problems, they are also among the most preventable and most can be effectively controlled.  Examples of chronic diseases are: asthma, diabetes, obesity and overweight, and heart disease.

Breast Cancer:The United States has the highest annual incidence rate of breast cancer in the world. It is the second-most common cancer (after skin cancer) and the second-most common cause of cancer death (after lung cancer). It was estimated by the National Cancer Institute that 288,130 women were diagnosed with and 39,520 women died of breast cancer in 2011. Worldwide, more than one million new cases of breast cancer are found every year.

What Industrial Related Problems Are We Solving?

Xyken's core imaging technologies are cross-platformed and scalable. While our technologies were initially developed for medical purposes, we are able to extend our products for non-medical fields. Our 3D SureScan product line now offers real-time and highly accurate 3D imaging capability. 3D SureScan is being used for online inspection and robotic automation.
